Time of the Eagle by Sherryl Jordan

In this story of the triumph of good over evil, You meet Avala a sixteen year old Shiani girl who has just become a woman in her tribe. Her mother is the Healer in her tribe and all Avala wants is to follow in her footsteps but fate and destiny have a different path for her.  On the night that she is pronounced a woman her entire life goes from being soft, warm, and surrounded by love to being a battle ground on which she will fight, even if that means her death. Standing for what she believes in is the easy part for Avala but choosing to walk the path that may lead to her death is hard. This path leads her to unexpected places and gives her even more trials.

This story gets 3 out of 4 Cups Of Joe, as the writing was good but there were some parts where it felt as thought the author was just speeding the reader along, and a few other where I really wasn't sure what was going on, I felt like I needed a dictionary. Written at the Young adult level, this book definitely makes up for those two things with the characterization, I really do feel as though if I look inside myself I would find a young girl just like Avala! :-)

There is not a link to buy this book but I am sure that you can get it at your local library!

Vampire Academy Series

A long time ago I used to work in a library and a children's librarian said that I should read the Vampire Academy Series. In my recent search of the library here in GA, where I now live I went ahead and decided to check it out. Boy am I glad that I did!!! I have never read any series of books that was so captivating. As you all know, I read a lot... but this series I finished in a week. All 6 Books!

Captured by the Guardians, Rose and Lissa are dragged back to St. Vladimir's Academy. A boarding school for Vampires where they are educated in the ways of magic. Rose is a Dhampir, a half-human who is trained to protect Lissa a Royal Moroi Princess and the last of her line. The Dhampir's, also known as the Guardians are suppose to protect the Moroi (the vampires) from the things that go bump in the night. The Strigoi are the most horrible blood-sucking vampires known to the world, they don't care if you are human, Dhampir or Moroi, they catch you and you are good as dead!

As Rose and Lissa become entwined in forbidden romance, Royal politics and crazy teen angst. They discover they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

With hidden powers and remarkable friendship on their side Rose and Lissa battle against not only their enemies but also their hearts... The question is can they win?

Out of the Dark (Grey Wolves Series #4) By Quinn Loftis

Out Of The Dark starts out with all Four of the Grey Wolves Packs joined together at the Gathering. This has now come to an abrupt stop as one of their own has decided to Attack the Romanian Pack... and as we know they don't take to kindly to that! Since this Alphas plan to kill off Vasile didn't work out, he decides to Attack Jen and Decebel! First off... How dare he! And second, What??? are you crazy... Dec with rip your head off for just looking at her the wrong way??

Unknown to the Romanian Pack the Alpha that attacked them has employed a Witch to do his bidding and she has created a Curse for Decebel that will potentially destroy his already fragile bond with Jen.

Mean while Jen is fighting for her life and the love of her life, as she finally starts to accept that she will never feel him again. Help comes along in a very unexpected way (and once again we are introduced to a few skeletons and new characters).

Vasile who is very much alive and very angry decides to call upon all of his resources. Which includes Sally, the Gypsy Healer, to find a way to help Dec and in turn help Jen. While also inadvertently solving a mystery that has been around for over 300 years...

This story has all of the makings of a Turkey Dinner with all the Trimmings! I couldn't put it down and even was late for work cause I didn't want to stop reading. As with all of her writing +Quinn Loftis makes this world come to life and creates even more characters that are as relatable as a best friend and as smoking hot as a Sexy Werewolf Furball.

I have to give this book 5 out of 5 Cups of Joe as she once again completely wrapped me up in a story that I couldn't get enough of.

Revival (Variant Series #1) by Jena Leigh

Possessing the uncanny ability to fry a television set from twenty paces can really wreck a girl's social life.

If your looking for proof, just ask sixteen-year-old Alexandra Parker. After catching her boyfriend in the arms of the prettiest girl in school, she made the journey from social elite to social pariah in a haze of electricity and exploding electronics. But finding herself at the bottom of the Bay View High's social hierarchy was nothing compared to the shock of discovering who-and what-she really is.

After being zapped out of a burning bookstore by the mysterious Declan- a hero nearly as handsome as he is infuriating-Alex finds herself under the protection of the powerful Grayson family. It's through them that she learns the truth: that the world she's always known is nothing like it appears to be... and that she has far more in common with them than she might want to believe.

Now, on the run from a fire-wielding hit man and a secretive government organization, Alex must navigate a strange and treacherous new world filled with superhuman mutants known as Variants. As she begins to unravel the many secrets of her family's past, she uncovers the real reason for her parents' death twelve years earlier- and finds out that the threat to her family, and to everyone she cares about, is still dangerously real.

I went ahead and copied the summary from Amazon because it perfectly describes the book. I bought this book last night, looking for something to help lull me to sleep...This book did not! In fact I was up till 1:30 reading and I just finished it a few moments ago. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of detail that the author put into the setting and the way that she actually took time to develop the characters by not only showing you Alex's thoughts but also the other characters in the stories. I loved the twist and turns that came around 3/4ths of the way through the story. Also, when she tells a story inside the story she doesn't do it from the perspective of the person who told the story...She did it from Declan's point of view and that made it even more interesting.

I have to give this story 4 out of 5 Cups of Joe, because it was wonderful...But it did have some typos. They really don't effect the story and if your not looking for them. I doubt that your brain will even register them.

I did go to her website and found out that she is entirely Self- Published! So check it out :) www.jenaleighbooks.com.

I really can't wait to read the next story. I just found out on her blog that she is working on the second book and has already started on the third!

Prince of Wolves (Grey Wolves Series,Book Number 1) By Quinn Loftis

This book starts with a girl getting ready to go into her senior year, (Like thats not hard enough!) when a "hottie" Romanian student moves in next store.

Fane is a Romanian Exchange student who is just trying to experience american life for his senior year. Little does he know that the girl with the mesmerizing Green eyes, that are staring at him through the blinds, is going to help turn his life inside out.
Jacque is on a covert mission, she promises her friends Jen and Sally that she will find out about the transfer student who is arriving that night. So going all "James Bond", she decides to peek out her window as he pulls up. Not expecting to see such a "hottie", she stares and meets a gorgeous set of Blue eyes.

This meeting at such a distance changes both of their summers and the upcoming senior year in ways that neither could ever imagine.

Quinn Loftis does a wonderful job of bringing you into their world and allowing you to see through their eyes. The first part is a little fast pace, but it keeps up the momentum and you never want to put it down. I have to say that I read this book in about 5 hours, I really could not turn off my phone, and I got annoyed every time some one called me cause I couldn't finish reading.

I have to give this book a 5 out of 5 stars cause its fantastic. the writing is phenomenal, the descriptions are not to over the top but they really do make the characters seem beyond real. Once you read this book you are not going to be able to stop. - I actually bought the second book because I just couldn't help it, and I cant wait to get my hands on the third!!!.

Check out the second book in the Grey wolves series.

UnEnchanted (An Unfortunate Fairy Tale By Chanda Hahn

UnEnchanted is the story of a third generation descendent of the Brother Grimm. A girl of about 16, who is not the popular girl, the brain, or even the sporty type, gets stuck with a bad curse, she has to survive all of The Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales in order to break the curse that killed both her father and her uncle...Not to mention all the other males in her family. The Story takes place in high school where she is not only challenged everyday by the popular girls and the jocks but also by not having many friends and everyone seems to make fun of her. Even her best friend, Nan, seems to use the Unfortunate circumstances under which she thrives to increase her own twitter followers. This book not only speaks to the underdog in us all but captivates the mind and sends us along for the ride through not only one but TWO fairy tales.

****SPOILER ALERT!!!!!****

I wish I could say that as with all fairy tales this one has the perfect Disney Happily Ever After. But it doesn't.

****************************************

I have to give this book 4 out of 5 stars. The writing was splendid, attention grabbing and also I really didn't want to put it down. Quite the Page turner. I enjoyed this books so much that I am actually going to read the beginning of some of her other works before I move onto the next book in this fascinating series.

This this the Second book in the series.

Double Dare by Rhonda Nelson

This book was a great fast read. It took me only a few hours to read but it kept me really interested. The main character Louisa Honeycutt (Lou) is really funny and (the only word I can think of here is) Spunky. I love how the author paired this good girl gone bad with a thrill seeking, rugged looking, not so bad boy, Sam Rollins.

Lou is a runaway bride who is trying to get away from her overbearing father, and an almost marriage that would have been completely loveless.  Her solution to this, is to run away and she ends up on a Not So Wild Thrill Seeking Adventure, with the Adventure guide who is extremely unprepared for the crazy ride that he is about to go on.

This book is only about 106 pages, and is perfect for a few hours of enjoyment. I would say that it gets a 5 out of 5 stars, for the fast                                                   pace and the relatable characters.
